the power of chocolate | a photoshoot with my big boys

I seriously can't pass up a chance to photograph my big boys.
After the crowd left on Easter and we were winding down I realized I had only taken iPhone pics of them, and that wasn't going to cut it.
I bribed them with some Easter candy and we ran outside to do "5 pictures each".
I snuck in some of them together too.
Because, that is the power of chocolate.
Of course it was windy - when is it not windy here!? - so we headed to our trusty silo to block the wind.
And here is what I captured...

Don't they look sweet in that last pic?
One second later... that hand of Beckam's smacked Brody in the face.
I don't think I will ever fully understand brotherhood.

cinnamon rolls on a stick

One of my contributions to Easter brunch this year were some cinnamon rolls... on sticks.
They are delicious.
And fun to make.
And mostly just delicious.
To make these balls of heaven, it's really quite easy.
My boys love helping make them.
There is no homemade cinnamon rolls around here... although if you are into that sort of thing, I'm sure it would work quite well also.
Or you can just buy the can of premade cinnamon rolls like me.
Get out a trusty little cakepop/donut hole baker and some sticks and you are all set.
Cut each roll into six pieces.
Take a piece and roll it into a ball.
Once they are all rolled up, stick them in your baker {perhaps a mini muffin pan in the oven would work too??}.
Let them cook for about 5 minutes.
Poke them to make sure that they aren't still raw.
If they feel good, take them out.
Let them cool for a minute before dousing with frosting and putting a stick in it.
And then, they are ready to devour!

My boys were happy to help.
And even insisted on eating the fallen pieces off the floor.
 Believe me, they're that good!

baby bunny

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to slap some bunny ears on my baby Bennett and do a mini photoshoot Easter afternoon.
He is, after all, my last baby... and it was his first Easter.
I have never seen a cuter baby bunny. Ever.

I hope that he is just as cooperative in five years.

annual easter extravaganza

Another Easter has come and gone.
And another successful celebration with friends and family.
We had a group of about 20 people out to the farm yesterday for a very delicious brunch and some seriously competitive egg hunts.
I'll give you a quick little recap starting with the decor and food.
Of course.

Everyone brought something to add to the menu, and we had a feast.
I whipped up this blueberry french toast casserole, found HERE...
And some cinnamon rolls on a stick. I will do a post on how I made these soon.
After we stuffed ourselves, and the children were getting stir crazy in our tiny farmhouse, we headed outside to wide open spaces.
We dyed 5 dozen eggs, and Brody dyed his leg blue.
And his face and jacket orange.
Considering he is by far our tidiest child, I was a little surprise.
And he was freaking out a tad.
BUT they turned out beautiful still.
The long awaited egg hunts were ready to commence.
The kids competition was nice.
They were friendly with one another and zero trash talking took place.
I can't say that was the case for the adults.
We did have a cash prize after all.
And I nearly won.
I particularly enjoyed watching the guys.
We hid the eggs quite well if I do say so myself.
And in addition to the killer hiding spots, they also took it upon themselves to quickly snag eggs from others baskets.
Bennett was less than amused with all of the excitement, but I have high hopes for his second Easter.
It was such a fun day!
Can't wait to do it again next year.
I'm already training for the egg hunt... watch your back Emma! :)
