oh hey, friday | i thought it was thursday

Oh, hey.
SO the week went by so fast that I forgot it was Friday.

I woke up realizing I forgot to provide you all with this lovely little link up.
I may or may not write up a complete blog post.
I'm leaning more towards not. #slacker

Fun fact though: we are leaving for Yellowstone on Sunday.
If you'd like to follow along you can find me on snapchat: @farmerswifeamy.
OR go follow my instagram HERE or the boys' instagram HERE.

Well, I guess all of you diligent bloggers can go ahead and link up now!

oh hey, friday | ice cream party + lemonade stand + renovation

I'm not entirely sure how the weeks keep going by faster and faster.
But they do.
And I'm a little bit mad about it.

We did do a lot of fun things this week though, and that I'm not mad about.

1 | ice cream social
I'm not really good at a lot of things.
But you know what I am good at?
Putting together a party in a few days.
Planning more than 4 days in advance... I don't have time for that.

Sunday we were in charge of a church social at our house.
And it revolved around ice cream... homemade ice cream.
I made a chocolate one and a peach.
There was also a strawberry and vanilla.
And a whole lot of toppings.
Along with great company.
Total success.

2 | lemonade stand
I have been wanting to set up a lemonade stand for the boys.
And since they are finally finished with daily swimming lessons, the timing was perfect.
They were so excited about it!
We made cookies and lemonade and set up the table with some homemade jam too.
And then we made some signs....
You see we live on a highway.
A highway where people generally drive about 70 mph.
So a little lemonade stand by our fence would get overlooked quite easily.
After we made some big signs on plywood, I drove them down a half mile on each side of our house in hopes of getting more traffic for these cute little lemonade sellers.
For the first hour or so they were very aggressive about getting customers.
And they were very accommodating to their customers too.
It was the absolute cutest.

My husband, in-laws, and all of our employees got a bunch of lemonade and cookies.
And they contributed 95% of the boys' profit.
By the end of the day, we spent a majority of our time without anyone stopping, but clearly we still enjoyed ourselves...

3 | playdate
Wednesday my husband's cousin's wife (that's not confusing or anything) and her son came down to the farm for the day.
I somehow managed to not take one single picture.
Good thing Sarah came through for me!! :)
These boys played hard all day, and then they slept good all night.

4 | peaches
I'm still using up my peaches you guys.
I've made countless cobblers, ice cream, about 30 pints of jam, grilled them, put them on salads, and frozen a few gallons worth.
AND there are still more on the tree.
Oh, and we have given away A LOT.
I can't believe how many we have had.
Next pears and nectarines... any good ideas what to do with them??

5 | homeschool
We are nearing the start of homeschool here.
And my hopes and dreams of building a special school house have not come to fruition.
Because... budget.
So, we are going to be combining homeschool with our farm office in and outer building on our property.
I spent many hours today cleaning and trying to clear out the things that we don't need in there for the business side of things.
Now I am going to do a little bit of redesign to make it feel more fun and school-like instead of a farm office.
Stay tuned for a reveal on that in the next month or so.

SO, that was my week.
What did you do this week!??

Tell me about it.
And then , link up!

oh hey, friday | i should have been a gymnast

Apparently I'm only used to blogging once a week... and since I already blogged once this week, I'm not going to be hammering out a good post today.
Because, you know... life.
It's 11pm and I just got home.
And I still have very important things to do, like watch the olympics.
I mean, I'm still pretty sure that I was supposed to to be a gymnast.
I've thought that since I was a tiny gal watching the olympics at home.
And I can do a mean cartwheel, so... it's basically destiny.

So yes, I'm not doing my five, BUT...
You should definitely still link up.

And then go and read my post from Monday about Bennett's 8 month milestones HERE.

Cheers to Friday.

And now, link up!

bennett | 8 months

The other day I spontaneously started crying.
Because I'm weird.
And because my last baby is not so much a baby anymore.
I need to lower his mattress in his crib... and that thought made me realize that we won't ever need the mattress at tiny baby height again. Ever.
And that, my friends, is what made me cry.
I can't explain it.

I can, however, tell you how completely precious Bennett is.
And you can also just see for yourself...
Where are the heart eyed emoticons when you need them!?!

Bennett is still the happiest kid I've ever known.
He is rarely sad, and puts up with a lot of crazy schedules.
I can always count on him for a smile or belly laugh.
He is a mover and a shaker!
He wants to stand/crawl/walk/scoot SO bad.
And he tries.
But until he masters those, he just rolls around, sits himself up, and inches his way around the house.
It's pretty amazing how far he can move for not actually being able to crawl.
Bennett still loves me, but it turns out that he loves his daddy more.
He literally won't even give me eye contact when Ryan is holding him, for fear that I will take him.
And when I actually do have to take him... there are tears. Big BIG tears and the saddest face you've ever seen.
It took me a couple minutes to get him calmed down today in fact.
All of the boys have gone through this stage, and I know that Ryan loves it.
Brody and Beckam are still just as obsessed with him as ever.
Beckam insists on having his hand on Bennett's head ALL of the time.
Bennett hates it.
But he does love his big brothers.
He gets so excited, and starts bouncing when he sees them.

likes |
Lately his favorite is his daddy... as mentioned above.
He also loves to dance, and shakes his bead back and forth while smiling huge.
He is crazy about puffs, and could eat them all day if he was allowed.
Water is one of his favorites also, and gets extra excited if he can drink out of an actual cup. Or if he can sit and splash in it. He LOVES swimming and baths.
Animals! He is enamored with all animals. Unfortunately he hasn't quite learned how to pet them without pulling out all of their hair.
He loves going for rides with Ryan on the 4wheeler or dirt bike. He may have a need for speed.

dislikes |
Bedtime. What happened to the 14+ hours of sleep he would get nightly!? Those days are gone. I would like to think that he wakes up because his teeth hurt or he has an upset tummy, but really... I think that he just likes to sit up and stare at the light coming through the cracks of his door just hoping someone will come rescue him.

milestones |
Teeth! Bennett's front two bottom teeth popped out a week ago. It is so cute watching him feel them with his tongue.
He has also learned how to go from laying to sitting all by himself. And then onto all fours. Generally his massive head weighs him down, so he hasn't gone far yet.
He has been working on pulling himself up onto his feet also. It hasn't happened, which is probably for the best because he is awfully wobbly on two legs.
He can feed himself with about 30% accuracy too!

Bennett is a big boy and is growing so fast.
He is currently wearing a lot of 18 months clothes.
He isn't super chubby, but he is quite long and his head is huge too!

I was literally only able to get one good milestone picture this month. If only you could have heard the crazy sounds I was making just to get him to hold still and look at me. Ha!

Love my precious boy!
And I can't even comprehend how he is already 8 months old.

oh hey, friday | exciting life events

I literally have my jammies on, and I was in bed... until I realized I had to blog.
Because, you know, when you basically don't blog anymore, you forget.
AND because, this just happened to be the fastest week of ALL time...

1 | teeth
Bennett finally got some teeth.
And I only say finally because it seems like he's been teething for an eternity.
Not because I'm excited about him biting my nipple.

2 | milestones
And while we are discussing milestones, it should also be noted that Bennett can go from laying to sitting all by himself.
SO this is how I am greeted when I go into his room:
The mattress is going to have to be moved down very soon I think.

3 | cousins
All last week we had family in town.
The boys were completely smitten to have their cousins here to play.
And I was completely smitten that I didn't have to break up any fights between them.
Well, that's not completely true.
Bennett was getting a little too rough with his baby cousin... who also happens to be the only girl in the bunch.
From the looks of it though, she will be able to handle her own soon, based purely on that stink eye.

4 | help
You guys!!
I have so. many. peaches.
Our trees produced exactly zero peaches last year.
And this year we have hundreds.

I had some great ideas on IG as to what to do with them.
But now I just need some extra hands and hours in my life.

So far, I've made a peach cobbler.
And that only used like 10 peaches.

Any more great ideas for me!?

5 | real life
Lastly, I'm just going to leave you this picture:
Because it basically sums up buy week/life.
Wild, happy, half-naked boys.
Messy rooms.
Lots of diapers.
And lots of love.

I'm sure there will be a lot more of that this weekend.

Cheers to Friday.
