fitness | a little bit about my journey to a hot bod

Let's talk about fitness, shall we?
It's pretty much consuming my life right now, so it's really all I have to talk about.

About two weeks ago my friend asked if I'd do the Tone it Up 8 week bikini body series with her. (Who's familiar with these hot gals? I am totally jealous of their bods.)
Considering I wasn't close to my pre pregnancy body, I jumped all in.
Basically making a lifestyle change.

For the last week and a half I have been waking up at 5:30 am to work out for about an hour.
It's really not as bad as I thought it would be (I'm not really a morning person).

I have also been following the TIU nutrition plan, which is money....
All of your meals planned out? Yes please!
Prepared grocery list for you? Awesome.
5 meals a day? Uh huh.
I always get stuck in a rut when left to my own devices, so this has been amazing!!

|| difficulties ||

The first week I had some issues with my milk supply dropping.
Bennett was NOT happy.
I had to do some calorie add ons during the day to my meals, or an extra bowl of yogurt with fruit, nuts and honey - seriously so delicious.
I also bought a one gallon water jug off of Amazon, and make sure that I drink the whole thing everyday.
That seems to have done the job.

Some of the workouts are challenging, but I love it!
I mean, I'm not waking up at 5 am to just lay around on a yoga mat... I want to feel the burn!
And let me tell ya, I've been sore.
Every. Day.
And it's great.

|| progress ||

Even though the scale hasn't shown a whole lot of progress yet, I am shrinking.
I'll take it considering I'm not even 20% through the series.
And I am feeling really good.
I have a lot more energy... if only I could somehow get a few extra hours added to everyday to get shiz done.

|| goals ||

Well, I'd really like some abs.
I've never had them, even when I was super duper skinny, but I'm sure they are down in there somewhere.
I mean, what's hotter than abs with some loose skin and stretch marks? Ha.

|| friends ||

It has been THE best doing this with friends.
It helps keep you accountable, and also gives you someone to chat about your meals and workouts with.
Or ask ANY questions.
Karli and I have been TIU texting machines.

So, this is what I've been up to lately!
Moral of the story... if you are feeling down, or chubby, and want to make a change, it's totally doable.
Granted I'm certainly not where I'd like to be yet.

Are you doing the 8 week bikini series? Or have you?
Tell me more!!!

  1. They are the cutest! They are best friends not sisters - although - they look alike. :) Good luck on your journey - I am sure you will get there sooner than later.

  2. about a year ago I joined a free community fitness group that meets at 5:15am to workout/run--I totally second the fact that a. it's easier with friends and b. when i get up that early I want to feel the burn! Anyone who thinks "that's too early" should try it..it's not as bad as it sounds! :) Props to you--keep on keepin on!

  3. I've been looking at this program but am wondering if it's good for people that need to lose a lot of weight or just those that are trying to lose a little but tone up mostly. Any thoughts on this?

  6. I always struggled with my milk supply dropping as soon as I tried to cut calories. I was not one of those girls that had the weight just fall off from nursing

  7. I did the same thing recently, lost 10 pounds, cleaned up my diet, started swimming for exercise, and I feel absolutely great. I feel like I walk taller and stronger. I used the Nutrisystem diet myself. It's not exactly gourmet food but that's not the point when you're on a diet.

  8. Good for you! I've been trying to make positive lifestyle changes but not many of them seem to stick... the only one I've really stuck to is using a pedometer on my phone to make sure I walk 10km a day. I managed to lose around 10lbs just doing that so I've treated myself to a Fitbit. It's amazing how small changes can make you feel so much happier and healthier.

  9. i love working out in the mornings; it sets the tone for your day, you have so much energy during the work day and you just feel great. keep it up!!

    i've only had slight abs when i did weights and regular cardio but it wasn't until i started muay thai that i can actually see and feel my abdominal muscles; as in the 6 pack! i should, given the number of kicks my trainer makes us do per class!

    have a great weekend!
