brody turns FIVE | party edition

I took an unintentional break from blogging over the past couple of weeks.
My usual blogging time is after the kids get to bed... and without fail, every single night, Bennett decides to be awake from 7-10pm.  And we all know 10 pm is way too late to blog.
It's pretty sweet to snuggle my babe on the couch without a certain 2 and 5 year old bombarding us.

Speaking of my FIVE year old, today I am recapping his birthday party... almost one month late.

In the past I have been known to throw fairly extravagant parties.
For example, Brody's 1st birthday here {mustache bash}, 2nd birthday here {small at home party}, 3rd birthday here {farm party}, and 4th birthday here {train themed party}.
For obvious reasons, my favorites are his first, third and fourth birthday's.

Brody's idea of a birthday party is CAKE! A boy after my own heart.
In fact when he was younger, he used to call cakes "birthdays".
I guess this makes sense considering we rarely eat cake unless it is on a birthday.

This year I let Brody peruse Pinterest with me.
We looked at A LOT of cakes.
He was set on a 3D tractor loader cake, when he saw a race car track that he had to have.
It was settled - race car party.
Except the idea of a fast paced theme party, with 10 little kids, in the middle of winter, at my tiny farm house ...didn't sound appealing.
This is when I got smart.  Like genius smart.
I started looking up places in the big ol' city of Boise to have the party.
A place where the kids could run free and make a mess... that wasn't my house.

We settled on a place that is actually the same building my boys did gymnastics in.
Brody had been asking when they can get back, so I figured I'd surprise him with his party there.

We had our own huge private room to do food and presents... and it also had a bounce house.
I've mentioned before my love of bounce houses.
A MUST for any party.
There was also a gigantic indoor playground with slides, ball pits, etc...
And a rock gym for our use.
To say that I was happy with the party would be an understatement.
I'm not sure if it was the fact that my farmer practiced his risqué moves in the r rock gym...
The fact that my gal Karli's farmer humped my head while attempting to rock climb...
Or the fact that I had ZERO clean up and these kids had an absolute blast...
I have a feeling this won't be the last party I do this way.

  2. Ha ha, this reminds me of the cake my Mom made for my seventh birthday - only she made the 7 back to front and didn't realise until it was too late!

  5. Thanks for sharing these highlights from the party. I am planning a small party at a local event space for my son and will ensure to include all these games in the party. Quite sure that kids will love and enjoy it completely.
