{$125 up for grabs}

And… just like that the weekend is over.
Which means we will have to wait an entire week before getting another perfect family portrait like this:
How is it even possible that not one of us could open our eyes and smile at the camera?
It's not like we didn't know our picture was getting taken.
At least the wood behind us looks pretty, right?

To help cure everyone's Monday blues we have a little something special for you all.
How about $125?
And how about from a group of super gorgeous gals?

Win. Win.

No, seriously… check out these gals.
And then enter to win some cashola.
I think I just turned your Monday around.
You're welcome.

{oh hey, friday | the best boy toys}

Well, well. It's been quite a week!
Other than general busy-ness, my farmer rescued 6 baby cotton tails after our dog made them orphans.
While this might seem exciting right before Easter and all…
they are apparently the hardest wild animal to try to keep alive.
No worries though, I found a lovely lady in Boise who is used to this sort of thing.
I delivered them to her yesterday, and she is taking excellent care of them.
Much to Brody's disapproval.
He was convinced they should stay and sleep in his room.

Speaking of things that Brody wants, today I am sharing a bunch of toys that he and Beckam are obsessed with.

But first,
link up time!

After mentioning some fun activities that I've been doing with the boys,
I thought I'd also fill you all in on the toys they are loving right now!

Ok, here we go.
I've broken these toys down into 5 categories...
build | games | hands on | art | outside

1. | build
Aren't these the coolest looking blocks?
I kind of love them.
We make some crazy structures too.
And even if you aren't feeling creative, they always look fancy.
found here.

Always a crowd pleaser.
The duplo's are an all around better fit in out household right now. The boys are loving the "planes" sets that they have put out!
found here.
Brody is pretty obsessed with lego's too.
They have to be put away when Beckam is awake though. #demolition
There is something to be said about how much better lego's have gotten over the past 30 years.
I still remember my horse lego set like it was yesterday though. Gosh I loved playing with that.
found here.

take apart toys:
Since Beckam loves destroying taking things apart, this toy is right up his alley since that is what it is meant for.
It also really get his creativity going, which I love.

found here.

2. | games
I am a big gamer.
Like board gamer… not computers.
Now that the boys are getting older, playing games with them is becoming quite fun.
Here are a couple of our current favorites.
sneaky snacky squirrel:

go fish:

3. | hands on
Please tell me that if you have children, you own some kinetic sand!
This kids both of my boys busy forEVER.
I even let them drive their tractors around in it.
There are lots of different options - in fact the one I attached is not the one that we have.
I am kind of obsessed with ours because it comes in it's own carrying brief case looking thing.
Very easy clean up.
Plus, I love playing it.
found here.

What's not to love about playdoh?
We love it for many reasons, but lately it's been helping Beckam identify his colors quickly.
found here.

reusable sticker pad:
Beckam likes to take the reusable stickers and crumple them in his hand.
He's such a joy sometimes.
Brody however, meticulously places these where they would most likely go.
If you are a church goer, this is the perfect thing to take and keep the children occupied and somewhat quiet.
found here.

4. | art
My children love the messiest art projects.
It usually involves lots of paint.
And water.
And mess.
When I'm not feeling adventurous, stamps is the way to go!
They love creating their own little farm scene.
found here.

5. | outdoor

Hallelujah it's getting warm again.
We have been going outside as much as we can lately.
I can't wait for running through sprinkler and t-ball, but until then…
sidewalk chalk is pretty fun.
Brody decided to "paint" one of our outdoor patio chairs with a rainbow of sidewalk chalk the other day.
While I wasn't expecting that, it does look quite festive.
found here.

While all of the above keep my kids very busy, they always seem to come back to tractors.
They are a bit obsessive really.
I wonder why?

What are some of your kids favorites?
Are they obsessed with anything currently?

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

{new blogs + a couple of confessions}

There are few things that I enjoy more than introducing you all to fabulous new bloggers.
Today is no exception.
These gals are one two of a kind.
You can read a little bit about them below, but you MUST head to their blogs and give them a thorough stalking... because you know that's what we do best.

I am kind of obsessed with the high school Canadian tv show Degrassi. I have never missed a season or episode. I have been watching it since I was a teen & now that I am almost 30 I LOVE it even more than I did then! I am lame I know.

I'm a closet stasher.  My house may look all neat and tidy when company walks in, but minutes before it was probably a disaster.  I'm a procrastinator so often times I end up getting a plastic tote and scooping all the loose items laying around into the tote and stashing it in the basement minutes before the door bell rings.

Go and check these lovely ladies out.
You won't regret it.
I promise.

{diy frozen yogurt cups}

This last week I made some homemade frozen yogurt pops with the boys.
They were a huge hit, healthy, and very easy & fun to make.

Here is how it's done...
Get yourself some small 3 oz cups {paper or plastic}, popsicle sticks and yogurt {we like chobani around here.}
Next, set your children up in their designated spots.
I gave them a little demo:
Scoop yogurt into cup until it is full. Place stick in the middle. Done.
Then, I just let them at it.
It started out careful and focused.
And then there were a couple of bites stollen.
And you know what happens when you get a taste of deliciousness.
 And then, this.
Brody is being a rule follower and staying very clean.
My children are polar opposites.

Either way, the job still gets done.
WIth maybe not as many yogurt pops as you were expecting.
 Stick them in the freezer.
Once they are solid, eat.
If you used plastic, like me, you will need to run warm water around the plastic cup for a couple of seconds, and then it will slide right out.

My boys love them.
I even let them have one for breakfast this morning.
They think it's ice cream.
Pretty sure I'm the coolest mom in this house for about 10 more minutes.

{oh hey, friday | 5 fun activities for kids}

It's Friday.
And I am feeling it.
I think an 8 o'clock bedtime is in order for me tonight.
Party. Animal.

OK. You know the drill.

I have been on the hunt lately for activities for my boys to do.
New activities.
More than the typical everyday "play with toys" shenanigans.
Really... mommy is tired of playing with the same toys using the same make believe scenarios.

Here are a few things that I've been doing to mix things up and keep my boys entertained.

1. | DIY Playdoh
This is the perfect activity for a young child.
Not only do they get to help make the playdoh {which is like a whole seperate activity in and of itself},
THEN they get to play with it!
Pinterest has lots of sites with different recipes.
This is pretty much a full day worth of fun.

2. | Glue Painting
 This one is pretty simple.
Yet still fun.
Grab a lid from container... you can use a paper plate too.
Pour in a butt load of elmer's glue.
 Drop in some food coloring.
And have your child start "painting" with a toothpick.
You really can't screw it up.
And it looks pretty psychedelic and pretty no matter what you do.

3. | Play Date
This is probably my favorite...
because I can basically pawn off my children on someone else's children.
They keep each other occupied quite nicely.
AND I get to have an adult conversation {that is frequently interrupted}.

Side note: see that structure on the table?
Do yourself a favor and buy some for your kids.
{this is not an ad - they are really just an awesome toy}

4. | Free Labor
I, personally, don't enjoy washing my car.
These little guys though?
They LOVE it.
I wouldn't say that they do the best job... but it keeps them occupied, teaches them a good skill, and helps them work together nicely.

Plus, they get to go inside and take a warm bath-shower right afterwards, which both of them can't get enough of.
Seriously... shower and a bath.
Who would've thought such a thing would bring them so much joy?
I can't handle standing water white I'm in a shower... it just resembles a plugged up drain.

5. | Food Preparation
I think I will do a separate post next week about a fun new favorite of ours, but really...
my boys have become very helpful in the kitchen.
It takes a bit more patience from me, but to see how proud they are after they help prepare something is pretty special.

What are some fun things that you do with your kids to keep them entertained!?
Please share.
I'm running out of ideas. :)

Have a great weekend!
