Before Thanksgiving we headed down to the Napa Valley to spend a couple of days with my awesome Aunt.
Today I am recapping my five favorites of this particular trip.

1. | Vineyards
I grew up in the Napa Valley.
And I daily got frustrated at the tourists driving slowly to take pictures.
I mean... they're just grapes. Growing on vines. Get over it.
I was numb to it's beauty.
But this time... honestly, the second we drove into the valley... all I could do was think about how I wanted to slow down. And pull over.
I wanted to snap some pics in those vineyards.
Real real bad.
We were there in undoubtedly one of the most beautiful times of the year.
My apologies for my teenage road rage.

2. | Wineries
While amazing and beautiful, they are not meant for children.
Exhibit one:

Exhibit two:
Not pictured... 15 minutes later both boys on their own two feet, squealing while running down this dream of a hallway for a kid.

Exhibit three:
Beckam cannot be trusted near breakable ornaments.

Luckily, we were the first ones at this winery.
And only because we wanted to take the boys on their tram ride up the hill.
Apparently 10 am isn't a prime time for wine tasting.

3.| Castle Timeouts
We headed to a beautiful castle for the boys to enjoy.
A bit more up their alley.
Unfortunately though for Beckam, who is getting a little stubborn streak, he got to experience a castle timeout.
Not the worst place to get a timeout.
For either of us.
Especially when this happens right after:
Brody was the perfect age to be excited about running through all of the towers and learning all about the features on a castle.

4. | Adirondack Chairs
We rented the most charming house where we sat in bright colored adirondack chairs...
played tractors and activity books...
hot tubbed, ate lots of cheese, crackers and olives, and caught up on life.

5. | Getting Away
There is something about getting away, as a family, from your everyday life.
It's rejuvenating.
It's fun.
It's beautiful.
It's adventurous.
It also reminds me what a stud muffin I have for a husband.
For many reasons... but mostly because he toted around both boys... and my camera bag for an entire week.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
It's going to be a good one.

  1. Love the castle timeout. I kind of wish someone would give me a timeout in a castle. What a beautiful trip!

  2. I wanna go! What a beautiful family you have - looks like you had a great time.

  7. Your pictures make me want to hop in the car and drive west, particularly the turtle mosaic and the stream gallivanting. Gorgeous!

  8. Those are great pictures. I didn't know there was a castle. I loved driving in Napa Valley. I am a California girl also, who got married and moved far from home. I'm hoping to visit my family next year.
