{a recipe + being fit + a cool gal}

I don't have a ton of free time here on the farm.
I could give you a dozen excuses as to why I don't find the time to workout as frequently as I would like, but I will spare you.
Instead, I am going to share with you a yummy recipe for a super healthy shake that is packed full of nutrition, and tastes like a treat.
1 package chocolate shakeology
1 cup nonfat milk
1 Tbsp almond butter
1 tsp maple syrup
lots and lots of ice

No seriously, a lot of ice. It makes it so thick.
Blend all of that goodness together, and you have yourself breakfast. Or lunch. Or even dinner I suppose.
The sweet thing about this?
It fills you up.
I am a snacker by nature, and I don't even find myself getting hungry for hours.
My boys are a big fan too.
When Brody hears the blender going, he asks very excitedly if I am making a chocolate shake.
Then he asks if he can have three drinks... because he is three years old... naturally.
It's a win, win around here.

And now, I get to share with you the lovely gal who introduced me to shakeology, Liz.
She's a real treasure.

*here is my disclaimer. i am not a great blogger like you gals, my blog isn't cute, i don't write eloquently, i throw pictures up there in hopes to have memories recorded and share random pieces of my world. i do though love health and fitness and the journey i have been down with it and that is what i love to share.

shakeology…my love for it and how it happened!

i have always been a runner, that was just what i did. i ran because it kept me in shape, it got me sweating, and who doesn't love a good sweat in the heat and humidity of july in ohio. it let me escape from the everyday craziness and i loved it! i still do!

as much as i love to run i gained weight every time i trained for a marathon or half.  ok, i'm not going to lie, it may have had something to do with coming directly into the house after a run and heading straight to the pantry and scouring like a ravenous fool. i eat after runs, well i used to eat after runs.

after my last marathon i was fed up, fed up with training, watching what i ate, making changes to my diet but still my body shape wasn't changing. yes, i had the runner legs but my 4 baby gut just wasn't going away. i decided to try insanity. it was hard, really hard, but i was sticking through it. i had just run 26.2, probably more like 36 after i walked through the finish line and back to the hotel, i was going to get through insanity. i did, and i saw results. i was stronger and i was leaner and starting to have the shape less of a box.

after i finished insanity i knew i had to keep pushing through so i figured i would stick with beachbody workouts, i liked shaunT and his motivation, so i ordered T25. it is only 25 minutes long and 5 days a week, my kind of workout.  i ordered it with shakeology as instructed, but was hesitant. i am not interested in vitamins, i don't like shakes unless they involve ice cream and whole milk, and i can taste protein a mile away. but i was willing to give it a try.

that first shake, i'm not going to lie, i was scared. i packed that baby full of peanut butter, almond milk and a banana.  there were probably more calories in there than i needed all day. but i didn't taste protein, that is a bonus.  i took out all of the added extras and realized…
i like this shake, days later…
 i crave this shake…
and then i realized i had energy, more energy to work and chase my four kiddos with.
and i wasn't hungry after i drank my shake, for hours. then i realized when i would tell other people about my shakes i would literally taste the shake as i was telling them how much i loved it. weird, but true! and the one thing i really noticed about my love of shakeology was my face cleared up.  for my whole life, including my adult life i have always struggled with acne and these super foods getting pumped into me via my yummy shake was clearing that up. i am thrilled!

long and the short, between the workouts and my daily dose of dense vitamins each day, i am getting the results i have been looking for.
is it a slow process? yes!
is it a work i progress? yes!
do i feel more confident in myself? yes!
did my shape change? yes!
am i stronger? yes!
do i still love to run? yes!

that is what i was looking for.  i didn't want to loose x number of pounds, i wanted to change my shape, get stronger and feel better about myself and in my own skin. beachbody workouts and shakeology has helped me with that and keeps me on the path of good health, nutrition and fitness.

just one more thing…it has made me a better mom and my home happier.  as i feel better about myself, i am a better mom, less crazy over the little things at home, calmer and setting a good example for my kiddos, and teaching my boy and my girls that health and fitness is important and leads to a better quality of life.

i would love to help you on that path, even if it is just getting started towards the path.

  1. Do you like T25? Are there any parts of it you don't like? I have been looking for a workout dvd that would get my blood pumping. I saw T25 but wanted a honest opinion of it.
