{oh hey, friday | a few thoughts}

First of all, thank you to everyone who's been linking up with Karli and I for Oh hey, Friday!
I absolutely love checking out all of your blogs.

In case you're new to this link-up, and would like to join in,
here's how it's done:
-Write about five things...
five recent purchases,
five embarrassing moments,
top five childhood memories,
you get the idea.
- Add the 'oh hey, friday' button to your post, {on bottom of my post}
or link back to Karli and I.
-Add your blog to the linky.
-Boom. Done.

Ok, get to it....
After you read my five random items of course:

1. | I like to plan parties.
And when my farmer decided to throw me a little BBQ birthday party last night,
I took it upon myself to do some decorating.
For my own party.
That is not only lame, it is unnecessary.
You know what is more unnecessary?
To get frustrated at your super duper busy farmer for not getting home more than 10 minutes before party time.
Two lessons learned.... first have zero input in a party that is being thrown for you.
Second, encourage zero parties to be thrown in your honor.
It makes you feel pretty bad when your bestest farmer friends show up, and then a massive wind storm comes and blows all of their hay away.
Farm problems.
For sure.

It sure was great seeing my pals for a wee bit though. They're the greatest.
Especially when they fix my brand new chandelier that I deemed "wired incorrectly internally"
since the top half of the lights didn't turn on.
Ready for the fix?
Screw in the light bulbs more.
Ugh. I'm getting dumber by the day.
I was seriously in the midst of communication with the company on how to get if fixed or returned.
Problem solved.
And thorough embarrassment.

2. | While a party is certainly not necessary,
I need to remember that my hubs and Brody are the best bakers around.
The. Best.
They made this cake together.
It was even pink on the inside.
Brody picked that out special.
Love my boys.

3. | Note to self: send your friends packages.
Or snail mail.
Because I certainly like to receive it.
One of my bestest friends ever sent me this package for my birthday.
Inside the big box was 30 wrapped presents... topped with a beautiful handmade tissue flower and festive balloons.
Each present was tagged with a cute note...
I nearly cried.
It was seriously the sweetest thing ever.

SO... if you are struggling with what to do for a friends upcoming birthday.
Do this.
I'd be happy to help you out with ideas on what items to get.

4. | I've been toying with the idea of doing a Q&A with my farmer.
All questions acceptable.
Any Bachelorette fans out there?
My hubby is basically just like Farmer Chris.
So you're welcome to ask my farmer any questions you'd like to ask Chris.
Except: "will you marry me?"
Or any questions regarding pursuing a relationship
Hands off ladies.

I would definitely like to know y'alls interest level.
Let me know, and leave me some questions you'd like answered by the farmer himself.

5. | In case you missed it, there's 130 buckeroo's up for grabs.
If you haven't entered into the giveaway yet,

There's also a 30% off ALL ad spaces deal using code BIRTHDAY30.

Ok. Now get your linky on.
And have a fabulous weekend.

  4. Happy Birthday! Looks like you had a great time and what a thoughtful gift from your friend! We are the same way with party details, it's so hard to stand back and leave the planning to everyone else, especially when you have great ideas you want to add.

  5. Such a sweet birthday treat from your dear friend!!! I'd shed a tear or two also. Ohhh I've been wanting to do a "Man Behind the Blog" post too. My Mister is so mysterious. ha! I should open the questions to my readers too. It's hard thinking of questions to ask to introduce someone you know tons about!!! Can't wait to see the questions you come up with!! Love it!

  7. First of all, Happy Belated 30th Birthday! I hope you're still celebrating! :) I think you should do a full post on the 30 small gifts...that is such a brilliant and thoughtful idea! And yes, yes, yes to a Q&A with your farmer. I did one with the husband back in April, and I was laughing so hard I could barely type his responses!

  14. I LOVE snail mail - both sending and receiving. I really love sending All Canadian packages to my American friends (mainly because we have candy that you don't have down there lol). Happy belated birthday - it looks like you had a wonderful time. And YES, do a Man Behind the Blog post. :)

  15. I would've decorated for my own party as well, simply because I really enjoy doing it and it looks like you did a great job! Too bad the hay went everywhere...
And that gift from your friend? That may be one of the best birthday present ideas I've ever seen.
Happy late birthday and enjoy your weekend!
