{things i never thought i'd say}

This parenting biz is interesting stuff.
I frequently find myself saying things that I never thought I would.
Like, EVER.
Today I'm sharing just a few of these gems with you.
Don't judge. :)

"Brody, please don't vacuum your brother's face."

"Beckam, we don't put our hands IN the toilet!"

"Brody, I don't think that our guests want to see your peepee."

"Beckam, don't touch the kitties butt-hole!"

"Wow Brody. Yea, that sure is a big poo-poo! No, I don't think anyone else wants to see it."

"Beckam, please don't eat the sidewalk chalk!"

Oh, I love these boys.

I'd love to hear some of the things that have come out of your mouth that you never thought would.
Share away!

In other news, satellite internet will be the death of me.
Sound dramatic?
Try it. It'll be your demise also.
It goes so slow and leisurely - it's in no hurry at all...
just like my farmer hubby when I tell him that we are getting a parking ticket in Boise and he should run and tell the officer {are they really considered officers? he was on a bicycle.} that we are right there. He started walking slower. And then told me that we had parked there too long so we should get a ticket.
No. I'm sorry. But no.
Anyways. That's a whole other story.
 Internet. Sucks bad.
End of rant.

Have a happy Monday homies.

{vegan cherry pie}

If you didn't read this post, you should.
First, because it explains why I have so many cherries.
Secondly, there are some ridiculously cute pics.

I opted to make a cherry pie with some of these delicious cherries.
Probably because it seemed like the easiest recipe to do vegan.

It turned out totally amazing!
And I highly recommend that you go and make it.

Here is the recipe for you:

-----   VEGAN CHERRY PIE   -----

Crust {makes 2}
3 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup olive oil
4 1/2 tbsp. cold water

Add flour and salt to mixing bowl.

Add oil and mix well with a fork.

Sprinkle cold water over mixture and mix well.

With hands, press mixture into a smooth ball.
{If it is too dry - which mine was - add more olive oil. I can't say how much because I just drizzled and mixed until it was the right consistency.}
Divide ball in half.

Roll out between wax paper.

Cherry Filling
5 cups fresh pitted cherries
4 tbsp. corn starch
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup sugar
2 tbsp vegan butter

Toss first four ingredients together.

Pour into prepared pie shell.
Dot with butter.

Lay the top pie crust on and pinch edges to seal.
Cut slits in the top to vent.

Bake at 400 degrees for 60 minutes until it is golden and the filling is bubbling.
{You may need to add foil to the edges if it is browning too quickly.}

Cool to room temperature before slicing.

{first steps}

Yesterday was a big day for my baby.
He took his very first steps!

We had flooded the yard to water the grass,
and in turn it transformed the yard into a giant splash pad.
Brody was loving it!

Beckam mostly watched at first and giggled as Brody ran by splashing water all over him.
He held onto my hand and would follow the same path that Brody had created.
Being the obsessive picture taker that I am...
I pulled out the trusty iPhone to snap a picture of Beckam standing on his own in the water...
with Brody running all around him.
And THEN... he just started walking towards me!
Like he'd done it a dozen times before.

It was one of those moments where I had to do a double take.
And didn't really think it was happening.
It seems impossible that he is old enough to really be walking.

I then proceeded to take about 27 five second long videos trying to get him to do it again.
To no avail.
In EVERY one, he dropped to the ground and usually did his signature bear crawl.

I'm quite fine with him waiting a while longer.
I'm not looking forward to the unstableness,
and head injuries.

{fun bus adventure}

Yesterday we took a little adventure in our friend's "fun bus".
As you can see, it is very family and farm friendly.

Their little Kaye and Brody had the best time of their lives thus far...
I'm certain.

Let me give you a quick run-down of our day...
Our excursion took us to a family friends house to pick cherries.

Clearly everyone was very helpful.
Except Beckam... but if you notice, he's cheering everyone on.

No injuries either,
but those nets around the trees are a bit tricky.

And while these kids can be super wild,
they're really just little loves...

We made out with a whole lotta cherries...

... and headed on our way.

But it was hot.

So we got some much needed ice cream.

Best Sunday-funday in a long time!

And seeing as though there is a cherry pie in my oven,
Monday isn't looking so bad either.

{5 | farm happenings}

1. My 12 month old peed in the potty one and half times this week.
I certainly wasn't even entertaining the idea of potty training him,
since he can't walk or talk well yet...
but as he crawled {naked} to his bath the other night he stood up and started to pee on the toilet.
I lifted the lid - mid stream - so that counts for a half.

The other time, he crawled in again, and stood up.
I pulled off the diaper, and voila!
I was shocked.

 I'm sure it's all a fluke.
It's gotta be... right?
Today, I found him playing the the toilet instead.

2. Summer has officially arrived here.
We've been enjoying outside pool parties.
We also enjoyed a movie party that Brody earned for good behavior.
 There is nonstop toy-tractor driving.
Naps on miscellaneous farm equipment.
And snacking on watermelon outside.
I'm more than ok with all of this.

3. I ate a large bowl of ice cream for dinner Tuesday night.
And I'm not mad about it.
Three different flavors of Ben and Jerry's to be exact.
It was the best dinner I've had in a long time.
I highly recommend it to anyone wondering what to cook tonight.

4. Brody had his second t-ball game this week.
He's cute.
And would rather be farming.
Each kid gets to bat twice in their 1.5 hour long game.
That's their favorite part.
Then they mostly stand around.
Or, like Brody, play in the dirt with his mitt, walk to the fence to chat,
or leave the field to give Beckam kisses and snuggles.
I don't foresee a baseball career for this one.

5. For our anniversary Wednesday we took a romantic {or not}
trip to Twin Falls to do some farm errands.
We even snuck in lunch at Cafe Rio.
I wasn't even expecting that much honestly...
A summer anniversary isn't exactly farm friendly.
I was super lucky to actually spend the day with my farmer and our boys.
Our three year old even did a little photo shoot of us!

However... my farmer is taking me in his old hot rod truck to Walla Walla this weekend,
which is where we were married.
With a promised stop at Anthropologie on the way.
I'd say I win all the way around.
